This website is mainly intended for members of: ArtFreaks.com, BigBikeCruising.com, CustomFreaks.com, KoiFreaks.com, and PhotoArtForums.com to be able to place free classified advertisements for their art, photography, accessories, bikes, custom cars and Japanese koi carp that they may wish to sell. ABKads.com will have its own entirely separate membership base, with separate registration and log-in from any of the above sites. As such, ABKads will also be open to anyone who wants to join - and membership will not be restricted to members of the above websites. Buy or sell art, paintings, photography, second-hand cameras and other photography-related equipment, motorcycles, custom cars, custom parts and accessories, Japanese Koi, home bred and Israeli koi, pond stuff, filters and other aquatic products - you name it! More categories are coming soon and the site-owner is always open to suggestions! Current thinking, with regards to the software that the site-owner is planning to use for the free classified adds service is now tending towards the Esvon Classifieds software, www.esvon.com/pg/products/p_classifieds However, with professional installation and the extra modules that I would like; (Attention Getters, Auto Notify, Compare Items, Member Websites, Multiple Languages, Refine Search and Regions,) the price comes to the tidy little sum of a little over US$2000. Ouch!! This is no small amount of money to be paying for what will basically be a free service... And never mind the site's contribution towards the cost of its hosting on my server. Still, there will, of course, also be different levels of membership - with some small incremental charges for the different premium levels. The premium memberships will allow for a larger number of advertising placements and things like Member Websites. (The Member Websites will look and behave just like individual websites, although they will actually be sub-domains of ABKads.com) Anyway, I am open to suggestions and if anyone knows of a better or cheaper software solution for my free classified ads website; I would be very pleased to hear from them! Please contact the site-owner and let me have your ideas... If I go for the Esvon Classifieds software solution, thisis how some of the little add-ons will work... Attention Getters: Users will be able to add images (attention getters) to their listings to signify certain things. Images will be selected from a collection created by the site administrator. The attention getters will be displayed when website visitors browse different categories, when they view search results and also when they view the listing details. With the Auto Notify module, members will be able to enter relevant search criteria and be notified by email if a match is posted to the site. This module will send out regular e-mail notifications regarding newly placed or updated advertisements - but only to those members who have requested such notifications. The notifications will be based on the Esvon Classifieds script - universal classified ads software, which offers members a database-enabled personal search agent. This allows them to specify certain keywords, discrete price ranges or other features and have notifications of only the listings that fit their criteria, e-mailed to them. The Compare Items module allows the site-owner or administrator to add a products comparison feature to the website. Visitors will be able to view a page that compares a range of features, including of course, prices between selected items. Potential customers will be able to easily compare the different item features, prices, images and user ratings - thus giving them more information to make their purchasing decisions. The Member's Website module will allow members of ABKads.com to build their own websites, based on a variety of available templates, that will allow them to display their listings as a separate entity. These Member Sites will use the main classified ads section of ABKads.com as the source for their listing data. Visitors to the customer’s website will only see that particular customer’s replicated listings. It will also be possible for members to display all their advertising listings on the main site - or just those from certain categories only. This will be a useful feature for artists and the like, who want to have their own website, (which will actually be a sub-domain of ABKads.com,) but can't be bothered with all the hassles of domain registration, renewal and server hosting. The Multi Language module will allow members, visitors and potential customers from around the world to instantly switch between various languages for the site, using a language menu located at the front-end. The Refine Search module will allow potential buyers to narrow-down the available items for sale in any category by filtering the search results by different listing fields, such as price, year of production and, in the case of motorcycles and customized cars, for instance, the make, original model, mileage, etc., etc. This feature is facilitated by a "Filter By" block, that appears next to the search result listings. And finally, the Regions module will allow buyers to specify certain regional criteria in their searches for certain items. This means that buyers can browse ads by Country, State, Province, Regions in any Country, City, a particular county in a State, by Street; even an area of a City and so on. "Pick Lists" are driven by a database table and selections are made variable based upon a previous selection. Ads can be browsed by regions with the number of relevant advertisements per selected "region" being displayed.
